Euro 2012 tickets

Football ticket queue
Euro 2012 ticket sales will begin in 2010. UEFA will take their usual generous cut of the tickets to dish out to VIPs and hospitality groups. Around 10% of tickets are officially planned for hospitality purposes but as in previous competitions tickets will no doubt be in short supply for average fans.
Ticket delivery instructions will be finalized once all of the Euro Cup tickets are printed. Tickets for certain matches will be shipped to your country, other matches will require you to pick up tickets at ticket offices in Poland and the Ukraine when the tournament starts.
With tickets in such short supply and demand and interest in the tournament so high, fan zones are planned in the host cities.
By re-refined data, it became known that the distribution of tickets for matches of European Football Championship 2012 will begin a year before the Championship – in the spring of 2011. This was announced today at a meeting with journalists in Donetsk, who arrived here to participate in the presentation of the EURO-2012 CEO of Euro 2012 in Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky.
According to him, the price of tickets for matches of the Championship in Poland, that Ukraine will be the same. They will be distributed via the Internet. Order they can be on the site of UEFA. The very cost of tickets has not been named.

Ukraine overview

Ukraine, (Ukrainian spelling Ukraina), country in southeastern Europe, the second largest of the continent after Russia.
Economically, Ukraine is a major industrial and agricultural producer. Ukraine country is well endowed in natural resources and has long been known as Europe's and later the USSR's breadbasket.
Ukraine consists almost entirely of level plains and occupies a large portion of East European Plain. Central part of Ukraine consists of Dnepr Lowland, through which Dnepr River runs from north to south.

Other lowlands extend along the shores of Black and Azov seas in southern Ukraine, while Crimean Peninsula, in the extreme south, has both lowlands and low mountains. Western Ukraine has some uplands, and Carpathian Mountains extend through that region for more than 150 miles (240 km).
Ukraine lies in temperate climatic zone and receives 16 to 24 inches (400 to 600 mm) of precipitation annually. Dnepr, Don, Dnestr and other rivers all drain southward through the plains to empty into Azov-Black Sea Basin. Ukraine's most important river, Dnepr river, is extensively dammed along much of its course for hydroelectric and irrigation purposes.
Ethnic Ukrainians make up more than seven-tenths of the total population. Ukrainian language is closely related to Russian and Belorussian and belongs to Slavic group of languages.
Russians are the largest minority group, accounting for about two-tenths of the population. The highest population densities are found in industrialized Donets Coal Basin and Dnepr regions and in agriculturally productive forest-steppe belt.
Illiteracy was virtually eliminated during the Soviet period, and education is now compulsory between the ages of 7 and 17. In higher education, Ukrainian is once again becoming main language of instruction after being displaced by Russian during the Soviet period. Primary and secondary schools using Russian still prevail in Donets Basin and in the southern part of Ukraine, where there are large Russian minorities.

Martin Kallen: the applause for GdaƄsk

GdaƄsk was the first city, that was visited by UEFA EURO 2012 organizational director, Martin Kallen, during his 4 days’ visit in Poland. He was really impressed by the progress of preparations in our city.

Kallen was accompanied by the representatives of EURO 2012 Poland venture – president Adam Olkowicz and Jakub Mazek. Together, they visited a construction site of the new passenger terminal on GdaƄsk airport and they watched a presentation showing the next stage of works on the airport. They also met with a Vice President of GdaƄsk, Andrzej Bojanowski.

It is worth to remind, that apart from terminal, the new taxiway and parking places are constructed. All these investments allow to serve 30 operations (starts and landings) per hour, which is very crucial in the context of GdaƄsk efforts to organize Euro 2012 quarter-final.  A big traffic on the construction site proved that all the works are being performed and that GdaƄsk will be on time.
The other visited place was the construction site of stadium. Although it is constructed so quickly, the guest from Switzerland was not impressed by this fact. The reason - “There is a special screen in my office connected with cameras showing the construction sites of all stadiums, that is why I know the progress of construction of GdaƄsk arena and I am aware that it grows like mushrooms after a rain shower” – was joking Martin Kallen.
During a press briefing, Kallen said that UEFA is determined to have Euro 2012 matches played on four stadiums in Poland and on four in Ukraine. “It is a common project of two countries. We are the partners and we keep our fingers crossed for Ukraine in a more difficult period” – added Adam Olkowicz.
After the evening spent in GdaƄsk, the guests went to the other city on the way of their visit – Warsaw.

What about HONESTY in football?

Ukrainians play football not too honest. This is reflected the low Ukraine position (23 place) in a recently published UEFA's Respect Fair Play rankings. List of countries "for honesty game" was formed on the basis of performance clubs and national teams in tournaments under the auspices of European Football Union in the period from 1 May, 2009 to 30 April, 2010.

Following last season in the UEFA's Respect Fair Play rankings Ukraine got 7,933 points, Ukrainian teams and Ukrainian national football team have played 82 matches. Not far from the Ukraine in the list of "fair play" - on the 20th, 22nd and 24th positions respectively placed team of the Netherlands (7.961 points, 108 games), Italy (7.934, 132) and Austria (7.925, 89). Team of Macedonia closes the list of "fair play" in 46 place (7.42).

The Fair Play assessments are made by the official UEFA delegates on criteria such as positive play, respect of the opponent, respect of the referee, behavior of the crowd and team officials, as well as cautions and dismissals.

Sweden have won UEFA's Respect Fair Play rankings, based on all UEFA competition matches played at both club and national team levels, from 1 May 2009 to 30 April 2010.Winners Sweden, second-placed Denmark and third-placed Finland will each be granted one additional slot in the first qualifying round of the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League.

The three associations that are allocated an additional UEFA Europa League berth will be entitled to enter the club that has won the domestic top-division fair play competition. If this club has already qualified for a UEFA competition, the second-placed team in the domestic fair play standings may be entered and, should they also have already qualified, the third-placed side would be considered and so forth. It is even possible for a team that has been relegated to the second division to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, as a result of its exemplary conduct during the domestic championship. Only clubs that have received a UEFA licence will be able to participate in the UEFA Europa League.

For the final rankings, only associations having played a minimum of 32 matches are taken into account. This cut-off point is calculated by dividing the total number of UEFA games by the number of national associations.

More than 90 % of Poles believe EURO 2012 will help to build up the country

Preparation for EURO 2012 in Poland will cost 70 billion zloty (about 210 billion UAH). Around 20 billion zloty (about 60 billion UAH) Warsaw will invest. About such expenses of Poland and the capital for EURO 2012 showed statistics of company PL.2012 – informed the publication «Wirtualna Polska».
Although predicted expenditures of Warsaw are not cost-effective, every third Pole believes that capital has not enough planned money. Sociological research conducted by Pentagon Research showed such results. By polling, the Polish people are optimists on the issue of EURO 2012: 91.6% of respondents believe that the Championship would allowcountry to develop.
Interestingly, that Warsaw, which will open Championship, will spend for EURO 2012 is almost in two times more money than in London to prepare for the Olympics 2012. However, the British do not have much to invest in infrastructure, which they have and maintain in good condition for many years.

Such a step owners made for football World Cup, where England national team is considered one of the main favorites, so the British would eagerly wait for the newspaper reviews of games, stories about players, football news. It suffices to say, how football weighs in British society!
Publishers know how to implement the ambitious project in reality. Special glasses with colored glass help correctly perceive specific paint and color combination which animating drawings and photographs.
The newspaper has a chance to test his idea - a week before World Cup 2010 start trial copy will publish. Developing the idea of using 3D in classical press depends on how innovations will be successful. In case of popularity of the football columns in volume format «The Sun» will expand the use of "findings", primarily, it’s concerned commercial information - advertising.

Andriy Shevchenko hoping for perfect swansong to career at Dynamo Kyiv

Information centre “Ukraine-2012” posted article of sophisticated columnist The Guardian Jonathan Wilson

Footballers who return to old clubs gamble with their legacy but the former Chelsea player is sure he made the right decision.

The past is past and to revisit it risks the memory that makes it a comfort in the present. When Dave Mackay left Tottenham in 1968, he had the chance to return to Hearts, where he had made his name, but terrified by the thought of "middle-aged men standing on the terraces, saying to their sons: 'See that fat guy out there huffing and puffing? He used to be Dave Mackay,'" he joined Derby, where they "didn't know me from Adam and we owed each other nothing".

For footballers to return to the clubs that made them great is to gamble their legacy on the possibility of a sentimental farewell. For every Peter Beardsley, there are a dozen Robbie Fowlers. For Andriy Shevchenko, though, going back to Dynamo Kyiv seemed almost predestined.

"I always knew that one day I would return to my native club," he said. "How I could I forget when I was the ball-boy at Dynamo games and saw the goals scored by my idol Oleg Blokhin? Now I'm 33 and I'd like to spend my final years at the club where I started my career. When I agreed my departure from Chelsea I had a choice of five or six quite well-known European clubs, but I didn't really think seriously about them because I'd already decided that the journey that began in Kyiv would end in Kyiv."

Adding to the sense of fate, was the arrival at Dynamo last year of Valery Gazzaev as coach. "That was very significant for me," says Shevchenko. "Gazzaev wanted to sign me 12 years ago when he was the coach of the Russian club Alania Vladikavkaz. I respect him very much. With him, training isn't boring. He has some interesting ideas and ambitions to fulfil."

Perhaps the most interesting of those ideas is to field Shevchenko in a wide position, something with which he seems not entirely comfortable. "That was quite unexpected," he says. "It took some time to adapt because playing on the flank requires more physical work and tackles. But throughout my career I've never complained about a coach's decision and it didn't take me long to get used to the scheme."

Shevchenko might not complain, but that doesn't mean he's necessarily happy about coming home to discover the centre-forward berth occupied, as Odysseus returned to Ithaca and found Penelope besieged by suitors. Last month, at home against Vorskla Poltava, he scored his 100th goal for Dynamo. "In that game Gazzaev gave me a nice surprise and played me in the centre-forward position I've played for most of my career. Personally I like this position very much; playing in the attack feels like I'm a fish getting back into the water."

Part of Shevchenko's brilliance, though, was always his all-round ability and his willingness to occupy roles other than that of central striker. That's why Valeriy Lobanovskyi hailed him as the closest he'd ever known to his ideal of the "universal player", and why, with his range of skills, he was widely acknowledged as Marco van Basten's successor as Europe's most complete striker.

Age has brought reflectiveness and, while Shevchenko is too modest to name Wayne Rooney as his heir, he clearly sees something of himself in the 24-year-old. "He's not a typical central-forward," Shevchenko says. "He has probably the biggest working area in the modern game. He moves constantly to try to fill the channels in attack, at the same time creating spaces for his team-mates. It's true to say he can do anything on the pitch. I've been very impressed by his progress this season."

Perhaps surprisingly give his relatively disappointing time in England, Shevchenko still keeps a close eye on the Premier League. "The chase for the title this year has been very intense. But I believe in Chelsea not only because I played for them but because I think they have been more consistent than their rivals.

"John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic and Michael Ballack are friends, and I hon estly have good memories of my time at the club. I wish them luck in the hunt for the league." Does it indicate something about his relationship with José Mourinho, though, that he says the aspect of English football that made the biggest impression on him was "without a doubt Sir Alex Ferguson with his ability to motivate the players and his great managerial skills"?

The title race in Ukraine is no less intense, even if Metalist Kharkiv have played the third-placed role with rather less gusto than Arsenal have in England. Dynamo led at the winter break, stuttered in March, but have won five in a row to go level at the top with Shakhtar with four games remaining. With Shakhtar home to a Chornomorets side who have won just twice since Christmas, while Dynamo travel to Karpaty, who have lost just once at home this season, Saturday looks an opportunity for Mircea Lucescu's side to take a crucial lead before the giants meet in Donetsk in the penultimate round of games.

This season hangs in the balance, but Shevchenko sees Dynamo on the brink of great things. "There are some very promising graduates of the academy," he says. "Many of them won U-19 European Championship. I'm sure Dynamo have bright prospects. It's also important that Gazzaev is a coach who can build the team in the best traditions of Dynamo. Under him Dynamo play as a team, combining individual and collective pressing, keeping constant pressure on the opponents and relying on a strong and deep game on the flanks."

Once Shevchenko was part of just such a promising generation, as Lobanovskyi's last great Dynamo side reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 1999. The enthusiasm that fired him then is still there, but physical limitations are starting to catch up with him. "You know for the sake of playing professional football I have to fly to Germany twice a month for treatment on my back?

"Several months ago I spent three hours in an uncomfortable position on a flight to Kyiv and felt an abrupt pain. Afterwards I couldn't even walk normally. But Anatoliy Tymoschuk, who plays for Bayern, told me about a very good doctor in Munich. That treatment gives me about 50% of my physical fitness."

Retirement, though, is not in Shevchenko's plans just yet. "Unfortunately we were eliminated early from European competition and got knocked out of the Cup. So, the priority is to win the Premier Liha. We have an army of very faithful fans and we'd like to confirm to them that Dynamo is the strongest club in the country. Beyond that, I am Ukrainian, and I would like to play in the European Championship we are hosting. I'm still very hungry. After missing the World Cup finals by losing in the play-off to Greece, Euro 2012 for me would be the perfect swansong."

Football rarely deals emotional favours and disappointment probably awaits any hope of Shevchenko's career ending in triumph in the new national stadium in July 2012. Yet given there are countless players who tainted their memory by hanging around too long, when the opportunity for such a perfect finale offers itself, who can blame Shevchenko for trying to take it? First, though, he has two more seasons to slog through; let's just hope no Dynamo fan ever has cause to look at the figure chugging about in the No7 shirt and think, "That used to be Andriy Shevchenko."

What's going on in Ukraine? "Two days and two nights"

Download the
programme (pdf)
The annual International Festival of Modern Art “Two Days and Two Nights of New Music”in Odessa now is one if the most large and informative festivals for new music and performing art in Ukraine. A specific feature of the Festival is 48 hours non-stop action (more exactly two 12 hours sessions) on the 3rd weekend of April from 23 to 25 April (this event). Music performances are theatralised and combined with visual arts actions, sound, video, cinema and multimedia installations. Unconventional modes of action rely on unconventional situation for the public. The Festival promotes all trends of avant-guarde, modern and post-modern music, including live-electronics, taped and/or computer music.
The festival’s action is unique because it was designed, according to the logic of its composer-founder’s conception, as a grandiose 48-hour event, where various kinds of art are organically combined into a non-stop music spectacle, a large-scale composition-performance with a distinctive atmosphere shared by performers and audience alike.
The conception of the festival remains the same: a large international event for new music with participation of nearly 200 musicians, composers, musicologists, and managers from all over the world and the same quantity from Ukraine. The focus of the festival - music drums. The aim is to unite new music with new festival form, to demonstrate the new trends of new music to the Ukrainian auditory (nearly 2000-3000 spectators), to promote the integration of Ukrainian music to the worldwide music culture. Fly on EURO 2012 with “RFID-card”

The international airport "Boryspil" presented experimental method of passing the border control. From 23 of March 2010, all citizens of Ukraine who cross the border through the air terminal "B" Boryspil airport may use E-credit card «RFID», which allows out of turn pass passport control.
State Border Service of Ukraine introduced this innovation within preparation for European Football Championship in 2012. The experiment will continue until the end of June and in July the Government will consider the results of this initiative and will determine the fate of using software system Hart-1 / P ". There is prospect of its introduction not only in Ukrainian airports but also at railway border crossings, and further on road border crossings between Ukraine and Russia and Belarus.
E-card contains passport and personal information. To get it easily on the Terminal "B" first floor works office which with foreign or "internal" passport can be issued «RFID». There is “RFID-cards” cabin for simplified control of the intersection between airlines “Aerosvit” and “Air France”. The card is free, and its processing time is approximately equal to one minute.
On the second floor of the terminal are special "turnstiles" with screen. Card is applied to special areas (you easily recognize its form) and on the monitor will appear clear instructions how to proceed. Within 1-2 minutes the software package “Hart-1 / P” reads the passenger information, checks and captures their data to the database. Then passenger goes through a turnstile and border guard just checks that on photo same person.
Using the electronic cards can be useful in introducing passports with biometric system, which actually replaces the scanned images of person passport data but in higher quality - until the retina. When the state will implement a passport system, automatic card can be inexpensively converted using passports under a new sample.
Meanwhile, guards set up three "turnstile" in the “Boryspil” and waiting for public comments. In assessing the so-called “Inspector-S” will be taken into account idea of the monitors size, graphics, instructions clarity, the machines configuration, opening-closing convenience turnstiles, volume and others.
State Border Service of Ukraine expects all reviews with positive or negative critics to email: contpoint_okpp@pvu.gov.ua. For information about the new service please call 044 281-70-67 from 9 am to 5 pm.

International investors are interested in Ukraine! Are YOU?

Ukraine is taken on world financial markets as a solvent and stable state, this is evidenced by increasing its ranking by leading international organizations - said Deputy Minister of Finance Andriy Kravets. These changes gain special significance in the context of Ukraine's preparations for EURO 2012 because the strong position of our country in the world financial market will help to raise investments in preparing championship facilities.
«Standard & Poor's upgraded Ukraine's sovereign rating, remove it from the category of "dangerous situation" and move to "sufficient capacity to meet financial obligations", - told Andriy Kravets. In addition, Mr. Kravets said that rate raising at the national scale presents on Ukraine's ability to timely and fully perform its obligations concerning the Ukrainian emitters. As said Deputy Minister that Standard & Poor's changed its outlook for Ukraine to positive and agency Fitch changed its forecast of defaults of emitters from negative to stable.
"This is basis in order to allow other agencies also upgrade ratings of our state. So far Ukraine more affably will take on global financial markets", - emphasized Andriy Kravets.
Andriy Kravets noticed that today there are all reasons to resume cooperation with international financial organizations, in particular with the International Monetary Fund. Recall that last year the allocation of the fourth tranche of the IMF loan program for stand-by has been suspended because of unstable economic and financial situation in the country. Currently, Ukraine has already received USD 10.9 billion of promised 16.4 billion loan. Part of these funds was directed to prepare state for EURO 2012, particularly for development of hotel infrastructure.
